The Faces of God

The Faces of God

I came across this little piece I wrote several years ago, and thought: I am no longer concerned with a theology that tells me about "God." These days, I look for the many faces of God in the universe, and it is through these faces I see God, yet imperfectly, for I have not yet seen all the faces of that which we call "God."

I sit here with a cup of coffee in my hand
From my vantage point …
I watch the eagle soar overhead
The deer forage for food
A fox boldly walks through the yard.
Cardinals and blue jays flutter about
The chickadees in the forsythia catch my attention
In the garden, shoots push through the frozen ground
The edges of Lake Erie are frozen
And in it all …
I see the many Faces of God.
