Locked Door

"Locked Up Tight"

There was a time not too many years ago when the Roman Catholic Bishop of Cleveland decided to close churches. Some would say that the churches he chose to close was driven by politics. This is one of those churches. Fortunately for this church, in time it was re-opened, but not without a bit of hassle.

Torchon Watercolor Paper or Metalic Canvas Paper

There's a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
And I know that it's the Spirit of the Lord;
Once there were sweet expressions on each face,
And as the worshipped, I know they feel the presence of the Lord.

Today, the sweet spirit lingers, for this is holy ground,
even if the people no longer are present.

Soon many of these Holy Places will be do longer, succumbing to decat or the wrecker's ball. Some fortunate few will find new life, but rarely as a Holy Place. Fortunately, not all places of worship are relics. I have included some those Holy Places to balance out the others. Interspersed are crosses and other liturgical pieces, some discarded some not.

My apologies to Doris Akers for my appropriation of her words
